Peabody Energy Australia, through its subsidiary Helensburgh Coal Pty Ltd (HCPL) has prepared an Environmental Assessment for the Metropolitan Coal Project (the Project) which, if approved, would extend the life of the existing Metropolitan Colliery by approximately 23 years.

The following provides an overview of the Project environmental assessment process and contact details if you would like more information.

Metropolitan Coal Project Environmental Assessment Process

The Project is being assessed as a Major Project in accordance with Part 3A of the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, 1979.  The NSW Department of Planning website provides a summary of the Major Project assessment process.
